Candi Dasa, thrilling diving at Gilis

Candidasa, located on Bali’s eastern coast, is a tranquil coastal town known for its laid-back atmosphere and scenic beauty. The name Candidasa means ‘Ten Temples’ in Balinese.

The town is renowned for its proximity to the Gili Islands—Gili Tepekong, Gili Mimpang, and Gili Biaha, collectively known as the Gili Rocks. These islands offer exhilarating diving experiences with strong currents and diverse marine encounters.

Each site at Gili Tepekong, Gili Mimpang, and Gili Biaha presents unique underwater landscapes, featuring canyons, swim-throughs, and coral-covered walls. Divers can anticipate encounters with various shark species, schools of fish, and colorful coral reefs, occasionally spotting larger pelagics.

Manta rays are frequent visitors, and between July and November, Molas occasionally appear in the area. Whitetip reef and blacktip reef sharks are often seen, and from time to time there is a chance to spot hammerheads.

Diving at Candidasa’s Gili Rocks is tailored for advanced divers due to the challenging diving conditions. Exposed to the full force of the Lombok Strait, the islands are prone to powerful currents. These factors contribute to the site’s reputation as a thrilling destination for experienced divers seeking adventure.

The Gilis offer the best scuba diving experience available in mainland Bali.
